Combined Traffic Safety Saskatchewan officers were busy during their enforcement campaign for Canada Road Safety Week.
From May 16th until May 22nd, CTSS officers issued four Criminal Code impaired charges, 43 roadside suspensions for lower-level alcohol/drug impairment, and 210 invalid vehicle registration tickets. They also issued 1091 tickets for speeding, 82 for distracted driving, and 81 for misuse of seat belts. Sixty-three invalid driver’s license tickets were given, as well. On top of all the tickets, 2273 warnings were given.
One traffic stop of note occurred on Highway 21 near Pierceland. A Meadow Lake RCMP and CTSS officer received an alert on their Automated License Plate Reader, and conducted a traffic stop regarding a possible unregistered vehicle. Upon further inspection, the vehicle has not been registered for four months, nor did the driver have a valid driver’s license. There were also lawnmowers in the bed of the truck that were not correctly tied down. The driver received several tickets worth a total of $905.
Although Canada Road Safety Week has concluded, Saskatchewan RCMP will continue to eliminate high risk behaviors, and they thank drivers who do their part in keeping the roads safe.
