I’m Vanese Ferguson with Coffee Talk.
Here’s, to me, the problem with discussion around climate change. I think what the average person hears is blah, blah, blah, blah, you suck. And blah, blah, blah, the world is going to heck in a handbasket. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all over, trying be part of the solution and not the problem. Am I going to run out and buy an electric vehicle. No. Perhaps a hybrid and when a few more kinks get worked out. I recycle, everything. But what I never hear is how what we have done, has made any difference. I feel like the uphill battle against climate change is just that, an uphill battle and no matter what I have embraced to contribute to change, there is none. And I don’t know how there can be. We hear all about how Saskatchewan is among some of the worst for emissions. Well, let’s think about that. Industry. Mining. A lot of it. Farming. A lot of it. Providing the world with things they need. A lot of it. But I sure never hear how China, with a population of 1.4 billion and India at 1.38 billion people are doing sweet tweet in terms of trying to positively impact climate change. It’s not that I don’t want to be part of the solution but I don’t think we’re a big enough part, with those kinds of countries and populations in play, to actually matter.
