Regina Police seized almost five kilograms of drugs and laid over 30 drug and firearm charges.
On June 18th the Regina Drug Unit investigators with assistance from the Tactical Support Unit arrested a 43-year-old Regina man outside a residential complex in the 3200 block of Arens Road.
A search of the suspect led to the seizure of a loaded 9 mm handgun, brass knuckles, a knife and a small amount of currency. Subsequently a search warrant was issued at a home in the same area and for two vehicles owned by the suspect.
That search led to the seizure of 4.2 kilograms of methamphetamine, about a half kilogram of fentanyl and 3.82 grams of cocaine with the drugs having a street value of approximately $115,000.
Police also seized $7795.00 in Canadian currency, a second loaded 9mm handgun equipped with a “Glock switch” that rendered the firearm fully automatic, a loaded .22 calibre handgun equipped with a silencer, an SKS .762 semi-automatic rifle and ammunition, a .22 caliber AR semi-automatic rifle and ammunition, a 12-gauge shotgun and ammunition, thousands of rounds of ammunition, prohibited extended magazines, a variety of bladed weapons as well as body armor and other tactical equipment
As a result, 43-year-old Andrew James Pittman of Regina was arrested and was in court June 19th to facing 29 weapons and drug charges. Meanwhile a third search warrant was executed in Saskatoon last Thursday in the 500 block of 5th Avenue North in connection to the Regina investigation where $31,090.25 in Canadian currency was seized as well as a 2016 Ford F-150, a cell phone and assorted paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking. A 32-year-old Saskatoon man faced two charges in Saskatoon court on Monday.
Chukwunonso Emmanuel Ojukwu of Saskatoon is charged with:
-Possession of the Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000 [CC 355(a)]; and
-Traffic in a Controlled Substance [CDSA 5(1)].
Andrew Pittman of Regina is charged with:
– 3 x Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking [CDSA 5(2)];
– Possession of the Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000 [CC 355(a)];
– 2 x Careless Use of a Firearm [CC 86(2)];
– 5 x Possession of a Prohibited/Restricted Firearm with Ammunition [CC 95(1)];
– 3 x Possession of a Firearm Contrary to an Order [CC 117.01(1)];
– Careless Use of a Firearm [CC 86(1)];
– 8 x Possession of a Device Knowing it’s Possession is Unauthorized [CC 92(2)];
– 3 x Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle [CC 94(1)]; and
– 3 x Tamper with the Serial Number of a Firearm [CC 108].
