The new President and C-E-O of SaskTel is honoured to be in his new role.
The telecommunications authority announced Doug Burnett as the permanent man for the positions, after having served in them for 19 months prior.
Burnett says he will manage the Crown Corporation in a way that improves the lives of people here. That means working on a variety of projects including expanding cellular service into rural areas.
Some of his work includes talks with Unifor national President Jerry Dias on a new collective bargaining deal for SaskTel workers, which he says has already began. He says he told them they don’t have a large number of demands and are interested in finalizing an agreement as soon as possible.
Burnett says SaskTel will approach bargaining with a give and take approach, as they typically do.
