Secret Santa was the brain child of long time Saskatoon broadcaster Denny Carr. It was his dream that every child in Saskatoon would receive at least one new toy at Christmas. Denny became the driving force behind an annual drive that brings smiles to thousands of children. Sadly in 1999 Denny Carr passed away. But by then the Secret Santa campaign had a life of its own. With the support of CJWW and the continued effort of "Head Elf" Mercedes Wayman, Denny's legacy continues. Campaign volunteers collect money and toys, organize special events, sort and bag thousands of toys. In the year 2000 under the leadership of Vic Dubois, the CJWW Denny Carr Secret Santa Foundation was established to ensure continuance of the program. The Foundation is a federally regulated charity with the ability to issue tax receipts.
In 2005, the CJWW Denny Carr Secret Santa Foundation made a decision to expand the program to provide a complete Country Here's how you can help... It takes approximately $150 to put together a Secret Santa Christmas package of food and toys for an average size family. Your group or organization can set goals as to how many families you wish to help. Cheques should be made out to "Denny Carr's Secret Santa".
Or as always... donations of new unwrapped toys and/or cash will be welcomed at the TCU Financial (Ludlow & Arlington locations), The Mall at Lawson Heights, Grosvenor Park Mall, Market Mall, City Hall and CJWW (366 3rd Avenue South). And to those of you who have supported Secret Santa over the years, thank you for your past support and thanks in advance for future support!!
Tax receipts will be issued for all cash donations. Inquiries about the CJWW Denny Carr Secret Santa Campaign
