Saskatchewan RCMP responded to two separate drowning reports over the weekend. On Saturday evening around 8:40 p.m., Outlook RCMP were told of a drowning on Lake Diefenbaker. Search efforts included help from the Outlook and Elbow Fire and Rescue. Around 7:15 a.m. Sunday morning, a 35-year-old man was found dead.
That same day, Saskatoon RCMP responded to the South Saskatchewan River about 20 kilometres south of Saskatoon on Highway 219 which is near Cranberry Flats. A 31-year-old man was recovered from the river and later declared dead on scene by EMS.
Preliminary investigations for both have determined these were accidental drownings with no criminality involved.
