There were 2 deaths over the weekend in Regina, believed to be the result of a drug overdose.
The first was just before 9:30 on Friday night when police responded to a home on McCarthy Boulevard about an unresponsive man.
The second was just over 5 hours later, when officers were told a 37 year old woman was overdosing at a home on 2nd Avenue.
Between Friday and Tuesday, records from the Regina Police indicate there were 20 reported overdoses.
Since the beginning the year, the RPS is aware of 62 instances of drug overdoses in that city.
84 per cent of those have occurred over the last 12 days, between February 7 and the 18th.
The RPS is urging the public to be aware of the threat posed by street drugs, and in particular fentanyl.
If someone is overdosing, call 911.
The Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act means anyone who is experiencing, or anyone who is present when someone else is overdosing is protected from a drug charge if they call 911.
