Emergency crews responded to a hazardous materials call at the Home Inn & Suites on Willis Crescent over the noon hour today (Thurs).
A Fire Engine, Haz-Mat Unit, and a Decontamination Unit from the Saskatoon Fire Department responded. The Haz-Mat team was told Muriatic Acid had been mixed with Chlorine which resulted in Chlorine gas.
The Fire Department believes it was an accident and was a result of an error in chemical mixture.
Muriatic Acid is a form of hydrochloric acid.
Three people on scene were assessed and transported to hospital.
Two Fire Department members were transported to hospital as a precaution.
There was no environmental risk from this exposure.
