Saskatoon City crews have begun patrolling the streets for potholes, targeting areas flagged through the city’s pothole reporting app, and using hot mix asphalt for more permanent repairs.
Cam LeClaire, Acting Roadways Manager, says if you see, or feel, a pothole while driving around, you can report it to the City to get it repaired within 24 to 48 hours.
“They can go to Saskatoon.ca/potholes. They can report on our pothole app. If they find that the issue may be somewhat of an emergency they can call that in to our customer care centre at 306-975-2476.”
LeClaire says a later spring with a freeze and thaw in March created more cracks and potholes than seen in typical years.
If your vehicle is damaged by a pothole, claims can be made saskatoon.ca/claims.
“Our group that handles claims would look though the information and decide whether there’s reimburssement that needs to happen or whether the dent will be hanndled through their insurance.”
Street sweeping also kicked off today following a two-day delay caused by rain. Leclaire expects this process to take six to eight weeks depending on weather conditions.
“We’ve got a lot of activity out in the streets right now in the summer season, so just slow down, watch out for work zones, and watch out for people out there fixing potholes.”
LeClaire says the City has six pothole-patching crews running, as well as three contractors.
