Saturday has been proclaimed as International Literacy Day by Deputy Premier and Education Minister Gordon Wyant.
The provincial government has committed to improving literacy of children and learners of all ages by providing $1.5 million dollars in continued funding to support literacy programs in the province.
International Literacy Day has been proclaimed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization for more than 50 years.
