Scott Moe says today’s decision by the Premier of Ontario to have his province support Saskatchewan in intervening in the court case against Ottawa’s carbon pricing policy, shows it is clear that Canadians understand a carbon tax does not reduce emissions.

Doug Ford joined Saskatchewan’s Premier in voicing opposition to Ottawa’s carbon pricing policy prior to the start of formal talks between Canada’s premiers at the Council of the Federation meeting today in New Brunswick.

Ford says provinces are strongest when they stand together. He feels it is important to display unity and send a clear message to the federal government.

Saskatchewan’s Premier Scott Moe emphasized that a one size fits all carbon tax policy does not work in Canada which is physically vast and economically diverse. Moe insists a made in Ottawa carbon tax plan will reduce the economy more than emissions themselves. A federally-imposed carbon price would start at 20-dollars per tonne and increase to 50-dollars by 2022.
