Wynyard RCMP says its members responded Sunday night around 9:20 p.m. to a report of a vehicle in a body of water southwest of Elfros.
Local fire, EMS and officers from the Foam Lake RCMP also responded and discovered a pickup truck had left a grid road and entered the water.
Two of the vehicle’s passengers managed to get out and did not report physical injuries to police. However, officers were unable to locate the driver and third passenger.
Saskatchewan RCMP’s Underwater Recovery Team located the deceased on Monday.
They have been identified as two men, ages 74 and 72, both from the Elfros area. The accident is under investigation.
RCMP say as of 8 a.m. Tuesday morning there have been 80 fatal collisions with 96 fatalities on roadways policed by the Saskatchewan RCMP in 2026.
Elfros is about 120 kilometres northwest of Yorkton.
