A former assistant general manager of the Okotoks Oilers, an Alberta Junior A Hockey team, is charged with three counts of luring a person under 18-years, sexual exploitation of a young person and making child pornography.
Tyler King, 39, was arrested last Friday at a border crossing in southern Ontario. King had been reportedly working at a U.S. based university.
An investigation was launched in 2024, after RCMP received a report that a former Okotoks Oilers Hockey Association employee had allegedly solicited and compensated players for intimate images and sexual videos.
RCMP Corporal Dan Campbell was asked why it took more than two years to lay any charges.
King has previously worked with junior hockey teams in Okotoks, Brooks, Fort McMurray and Nanaimo. RCMP say anyone who believes they were a victim is encouraged to contact local law enforcement.
King is expected to be transferred from Ontario to Alberta later this week.
