The Rural Municipality of Corman Park is paying a permanent tribute to a former Reeve through a road naming.
The road will be named Harwood Road after Judy Harwood. Her commitment to the community runs deep, having been a Councillor in the RM from 1994 to 2000 and eventually working her way to becoming a Reeve in 2012 before leaving in 2024
In addition, Harwood has also starred on the Sask Power Board, the SaskTel Board, and has 12 years on the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities Board.
Judy Harwood says she was proud and honoured to be the Reeve of Corman Park.
“I love Corman Park and all the opportunities the RM has to offer. When I travelled I always spoke fondly and with great respect about our RM. When I was on the SARM Board many times I was asked how we did things in the RM. The respect and interest in Corman Park was evident.”
The road naming is only one way she has been recognized. Harwood has also received a Queens Jubilee Medal for Outstanding Community Service, has been awarded with a North Saskatoon Business Association Life Time Achievement Award, and was named one of the provinces ten most influential women by Saskatchewan Business Magazine.
Harwood says she is humbled by the recognition she has received.
“This road and name will be here long after I’m not. In the future some of my great-grandchildren can point at the sign and say I didn’t meet Gigi but I do know about her, and here is her name.”
Her work continues, with Harwood now working as a Councillor in the RM of Sherwood.
