If you got a parking ticket on Monday July 2nd, you will get your money back. The city of Saskatoon says a number of people have contacted them about getting parking tickets on the Stat holiday. The City of Saskatoon is characterizing their refund as a courtesy to city residents as opposed to a fixing a mistake and anyone who got a ticket that day will have their ticket cancelled. You don’t have to contact them. And if you did already pop a payment in the mail, that will also be refunded. Fees paid by credit card or through the app will also be refunded automatically.

The city public service announcement did not address whether they had had paid someone on a Statutory holiday to hand out tickets but did shine the light on the actual flex parking stations pointing to the traffic bylaw that says paid flex parking is not required to be paid on Canada Day which fell on a Sunday this year. The bylaw refers to a specific day rather than using the term statutory holiday. The flex parking stations are supposed to say when parking free but that indication didn’t pop up on July 2nd.
