October has been named Disability Employment Awareness Month by the Government of Saskatchewan, in partnership with SARC.
The goal of the month is to recognize the contributions of people with disabilities in the workforce and promote inclusive employment opportunities across the province.
SARC Executive Director Amy McNeil said, “DEAM highlights the valuable skills and perspectives people experiencing disability bring to the workplace while celebrating employers that are building more inclusive workforces. By recognizing talent and removing barriers to employment, Saskatchewan businesses can strengthen their organizations, communities, and our province’s economy.”
In the 2026-27 year the Provincial Government has invested more than $10 million for workforce development programming to help people with disabilities prepare for, secure and maintain meaningful employment
The Saskatchewan Labour Market Strategy: Building the Workforce for a Growing Economy outlines actions the government is taking to increase the number of people with disabilities in the labour force, including investing in Employability Assistance for Persons with Disabilities programs across Saskatchewan.
