The Saskatoon United Way held a community barbecue on Thursday afternoon in the downtown area across from the James Hotel.
The event celebrates the generosity of local workplaces and residents who have collected winter essentials and other items to support people in need throughout Saskatoon and area. Brandt supplied a John Deere loader, with its bucket serving as the collection point for donated essentials and other items. The essentials included winter clothing, hygiene products, blankets, baby formulas and other necessities.
The “Lug & Lift for Local Love” served as the kickoff for the Saskatoon United Way campaign. This year’s goal is $4-million according to Saskatoon United Way CEO Sherri Benson.
Benson is urging local companies and their employees to get involved in fundraising efforts for their community.
