Residents of several Saskatoon and Regina neighborhoods could soon see some changes to the way they get their mail.  

Next month, the gradual process of transferring several postal codes from door-to-door delivery to community mailboxes will begin. Regina postal codes S4N, S4S, S4V and Saskatoon codes S7L and S7M will start seeing some notifying material as soon as October 18th. 

Canada Post’s Director of Public Relations, Ariane Suave, says the decision to make this change across the country came after several years of significant financial declines.  

“We lost about $482 million in 2026, and last year, we recorded a$1.5 billion loss in 2025. The change is urgent.”

The pressures come due to cost pressures, labour instability, and a decline in letter mail volumes.

Roughly 21,000 addresses in these regions will receive info packages from Canada Post in the coming weeks, alerting them of the changes about to come. 

“We also understand it’s not everybody that can go to the community mailbox because of physical limitations and whatnot. We will communicate the different delivery options as part of our Delivery Recommendation Program.”

Impacted addresses will be completely converted by 2027.
