Accident on Circle Drive shuts down on ramps and the freeway

One man has been charged with impaired driving following a collision early Saturday morning.

The accident shut down all northbound on ramps from 22nd Street West and Laurier Drive. As well Circle Drive northbound between Clancy Drive and the 33rd Street overpass was also closed.

Around 4:55 a.m., police were called to an accident in the area of Circle Drive and 33rd Street West where officers found two vehicles involved in the crash.

A man and woman who were in one of the vehicles were taken to hospital by paramedics with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the driver of the other vehicle failed a breath test with an alcohol screening device and was arrested without further incident. A 26-year-old man has been charged with Impaired Driving and Exceeding .08.

Evade police incident leads to dangerous drive charge, among others

Just before midnight last night (Sunday) officers pulled over a vehicle in the area of Diefenbaker Drive and 22nd Street West and while the vehicle initially came to a stop, as officers approached, it sped off.

The vehicle continued to evade police before eventually being located unoccupied behind a home on Miyowahkohtowin Road. Officers were able to search the home where the driver was located and made an arrest without further incident.

Through their investigation, officers also learned that the driver had a Canada-wide driving prohibition.

A 32-year-old man has been charged with Dangerous Driving, Evading Police and Operating a Motor Vehicle While Prohibited. The vehicle was also impounded for thirty days.

Stolen vehicle in evade police investigation

The Saskatoon Police Service says Sunday around 12:05 a.m. officers in the area of Kirk Crescent and Main Street spotted a vehicle they though had been stolen. It was also sporting a license plate that didn’t match the vehicle.

Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle sped off running a red light. Police say it continued to disobey traffic lights and then the Air Support Unit began monitoring the vehicle watching it come to a stop in the 10 block of Beerling Crescent in Forest Grove where four people got out and took off on foot.

All four suspects were quickly taken into custody, and police say the driver had outstanding warrants for his arrest. A 43-year-old man is facing numerous charges including dangerous driving, evade police and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

A 24-year-old woman who was in the vehicle has also been charged with breaching court-imposed conditions. The two other people taken into custody were released without charges.

Aggravated assault after good Samaritan tries to intervene

Saskatoon Police are investigating an aggravated assault from Friday night.

Officers responded to a weapons and injured person call around 9:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Avenue M South.

Information given to the dispatcher indicated a woman was kicked by a man and that the man was confronted by a separate man who was then also attacked.

The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival, but officers located a 21-year-old man with injuries consistent with an assault with a knife. He was transported to hospital by paramedics with what were believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Members of the Serious Assault Unit are investigating and anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
