The roster number is down from 43 to 32 players on the Saskatoon Blades’ pre-season roster.
A dozen players were reassigned to their respective Under-18 teams following Tuesday’s “rookie game” setback to the Prince Albert Raiders at SaskTel Centre. The breakdown of the 32 players is 17 forwards, 12 defencemen and three goaltenders while age group-wise it’s three, 2006-born players; nine, 2007s; five, 2008s; eight, 2009s; five, 2010s and two, 2011-born prospects. Saskatoon’s next pre-season action is Friday in Swift Current. CJWW will have the broadcast of that exhibition contest, beginning with pre-game chatter at 6:45 and the play-by-play at 7 o’clock. Blades trim preseason roster to 32 players
Saskatoon, SK – The Saskatoon Blades began the 2026 Western Hockey League (WHL) preseason Tuesday with a 6-5 loss to the Prince Albert Raiders at SaskTel Centre.
The annual rookie game consisted of mainly 2010 and 2011-born players between the Highway 11 rivals. Saskatoon’s 2026 first-round pick, Teagan Dernisky, scored a pair of goals in the opening frame and finished with a +2 rating. The U.S. trio of Landon Medin (1G, 1A), Christian Lee (3A), and Wesley Truax (1G, 2A) all finished with multi-point performances.
