City Council passed the Greater Saskatoon Catholic School’s request to use the Shaw Centre as a temporary place of learning for students.

The request came after a fire at Bethlehem High School left a portion of the school with large amounts of damage and other portions with water and smoke damage.

Mathew Loran, Director of Recreation and Community Development with the City of Saskatoon, recommends that city council sign an agreement with Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools to make sure everyone’s responsibilities are understood.

“The proposed arrangement would provide the use of a multi propose room, meeting rooms A and B, and two washrooms.”

Loran says the agreement term ahead of classes starting on September 2, with the term set for August 31 till December 31. If classroom space is still needed after the term is up, the agreement could be extended to January 30.

The Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools uses of the Shaw Centre could disrupt some programs at the Centre. Which programs will be disrupted is unclear as of now.
