Saskatoon Police have arrested a man after allegedly assaulting a police officer.
On Monday around 7:30 a.m., an officer was conducting traffic control during an investigation in the 400 block of Central Avenue to stop people from going down an alley. The officer instructed the driver not to go down the alley. According to a Saskatoon Police report, the driver then accelerated towards the officer, striking him with the vehicle’s side mirror, before fleeing.
The driver has since been identified and located through an investigation. When officers tried to make contact with him, the man attempted to flee. The man was then arrested after a brief physical altercation with police.
The 30-year-old Saskatoon man has since been charged with Assaulting a Police Officer, Hit and Run, Resisting Arrest, and Breaching Court-Imposed Conditions.
