The death investigation that was spurred Tuesday morning in Regina has now been deemed a homicide, and a 19-year-old woman has been charged.

At 4:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, police were dispatched for a report that two people had been shot in the 1100 block of Elphinstone Street. Upon arrival, officers located two dead individuals; a 42-year-old female victim and 37-year-old male, outside a home.

Police say the 19-year-old female suspect, now charged, fled the scene and attempted to hide from police in a nearby yard. She was taken into custody with help from the Canine Unit. During the arrest, the Police Service Dog bit the suspect. She was taken to hospital for treatment of a dog bite.

Patricia Stevenson is now being charged with two counts of Second-Degree Murder, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of a Loaded/Prohibited Firearm. She was scheduled to appear in court this morning.

At this time, at the request of their families, the names of the victims will not be released. The investigation is ongoing.
