Saskatoon firefighters were kept busy on holiday Monday with structure fires. A call came in shortly before 8:30 a.m. of a detached garage on fire in the 800 block of Spadina Crescent. Fire crews could see smoke and flames coming from the garage when they arrived. The fire was extinguished and no one was injured.

At 10:19 a.m. fire crews were called to a fire in the 500 block of 5th Avenue north in Saskatoon’s City Park neighbourhood where smoke was coming from the furnace room. The fire was extinguished and crews set up large fans to remove any lingering smoke and toxins from the house.

There was a house fire in the Stonebridge neighbourhood shortly before 6 p.m. Monday evening. Fire crews could see smoke coming from the home as they rolled up. No one was inside but fire fighters evacuated two pets from the home. Fire crews set up large fans to remove any lingering smoke and toxins from the house and then adjacent houses atmospheres were tested for toxins before residents were allowed inside.

A fire investigator is identifying the cause and origin of all three fires.
