Lumsden RCMP say an accident occurred between two SUVs at 9 p.m. Saturday on Highway #11 between Lumsden and Regina.

Initial investigation determined a silver SUV and a black SUV collided. Police say the silver SUV was travelling northbound in the southbound lane when the collision occurred. Officers located alcohol and cannabis in the silver SUV.

The drivers, who were the sole occupants of the vehicles, were declared deceased by EMS at the scene. The driver of the black SUV has been identified as 22-year-old Bhishma Rajyaguru from Regina. The driver of the silver SUV has been identified as 30-year-old Jayden Dalke from Leduc, Alberta, team captain and linebacker with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Autopsies and toxicology will be conducted as part of the ongoing investigation. Lumsden RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.

A Go-Fund-Me page for Bhishma Rajyaguru says he came to Canada in 2022 and described him as “a deeply responsible son, an honest friend, and a truly talented, passionate musician.” The Go-Fund-Me is raising money to take Bhishma home so he can be laid to rest in India.  By noon Monday more than $70,000 was raised.

Saskatchewan Roughriders General Manager Jeremy O’Day spoke to the media Monday morning in the wake of the weekend death of Jayden Dalke and described him as someone who gave everything he could for the team.
