The Saskatchewan Agriculture weekly crop report says the majority of crops are rated in fair to good condition, with cereal crops having the highest proportion in the excellent category.
Crop development varies considerably due to differing environmental conditions. Most crops are close to the normal development stages, except for those in the wettest regions of eastern Saskatchewan. On a provincial basis, 30 per cent of spring cereals, 35 per cent of oilseeds and 21 per cent of pulse crops are behind normal development.
About ten per cent of the first cut of hay has been made or made into silage. Another 20 per cent is cut and 70 per cent remains standing. Overall, hay quality is rated as 27 per cent excellent, 66 per cent good, six per cent fair and one per cent poor.
