It’s my Parting Shot for Week 7 C-F-L picks from T-F-P…..
Since I came down with a spring cold late last week, I’m agreeing asking you to trust me that my Week 6 winning choices were what I say they were. Getting all four games right was really a no-brainer as all the home teams were favoured and won – Edmonton bouncing Ottawa, Winnipeg upending Toronto, Montreal slipping past Calgary and the Riders clocking Hamilton. I needed that 4-0 after going 1-3 in Week 5 as my overall record for the season is right at the .500 mark – 11-11!
Week 7 begins tomorrow night with B-C in Edmonton. The Lions won the first meeting back in Week 5, a game that was played in Kelowna because of the World Cup of Soccer occupying B-C Place. That was the Leos last game as they are coming off a bye while the Elks bounced back by whipping a bad Ottawa team Last Thursday. Edmonton has never beaten Nathan Rourke, but that ends tomorrow – Elks by more than a touchdown!
The first game Saturday is the back end of a home-and-home series as Montreal travels to Calgary. The Alouettes might just be the best team in the C-F-L, so long as quarterback Davis Alexander can stay away from anymore hamstring injury scares as he had last week! The Stampeders are their own worst enemies when it comes to botched plays and penalties at the wrong times! I’m going with the Als by less than a touchdown!
Saturday’s nightcap has Toronto going to Hamilton. The big question with the Tiger-Cats is who starts at quarterback after Jake Dolegala flamed out in Saskatchewan last Sunday? To me, it should be Tre Ford and my pick will reflect that. These teams are both 2-3 and both have lost their last two outings. If Ford is the Ticats Q-B, Hamilton wins by more than a field goal, but if Dolegala gets tabbed again, then the Tiger-Cats fall by less than a field goal to the Argos!
Lastly, on Sunday, Winnipeg goes to winless Ottawa. Ryan Dinwiddie out-smarted himself. The former C-F-L quarterback and Grey Cup-champion head coach in Toronto leaves a lot to be desired as a G-M with the RedBlacks. He cast aside Dru Brown and chose to go with two guys who are back-up signal-callers at best in Jake Maier and McLeod Bethel-Thompson! Brown gets to show Dinwiddie how big of a mistake he made, in person! But, it will be close, Bombers by less than a field goal!
After my commentary yesterday, I’m not promoting sports gambling – just saying out loud who I think is going to win and why! If you chose to put money down, based on these thoughts, do so at your own peril!!
