The CTF says it obtained menus detailing the food served on the Prime Minister’s one week-long trip to Athens, Abu Dhabi, Johannesburg and the Canary Islands in November 2025. There was a 55-person entourage. To say they didn’t have the average airplane food is a gross understatement. The Canadian Taxpayer’s Federation says $159,800 dollars was paid for dishes like Chicken chasseur, Chilean Sea Bass, death by chocolate, French Toast with cinnamon and berries, Sundried tomato and mozzarella omlettes….the list goes on. First off – does this plane have a full kitchen with a chef on board? Because it’s a long way from the penne pasta or noodles served on WestJet flights. And the noodles -by the way, gross. I hate they serve that now. It totally stinks. Now their Sweet chili chicken and rice noodle power bowl is a fave of mine, the turkey croissant not bad. Good luck getting them unless you’re sitting in the area where they start serving first. The CTF tabulated that the food bill on that trip worked out to $2,850 per passenger. The CTF also says Mark Carney spent nearly $1 million on airplane food across 14 flights during his first year as prime minister.  In comparison former defence minister Bill Blair and his entourage billed taxpayers $2,350 on airplane food during a 12-day trip in 2025 although the CTF didn’t specify how many people were in the entourage. CTF’s Franco Terrazano says we need to ensure Mark Carney doesn’t rack up similar bills in the future. And I concur. I mean are they not consuming any real food when they’re at the destination?  Most times when I fly, I wouldn’t order on board anyway just because it’s a crap shoot as to what might be available. I’m just happy when they come around with snacks the salty option is more than just pretzels.
