I’m Vanese Ferguson with Coffee Talk. So apparently the ne’er-do-wells are at it again. This time using chatbots to impact AI responses when someone is looking for information about a flight status. Instead of correctly reflecting the status of flights as posted by the airport in question, in many cases, suggests system wide cascades of cancellations. It’s being described as clickbait sites which are getting income from ads viewed. A statement by Toronto Pearson Airport says up to 100 articles a day are being written, and the airport authority has identified five AI websites provided unverified or falsified information. The airport authority said it doesn’t want passengers to either have to show up when it’s not necessary or maybe they’re cancelling or rebooking a flight due to concerns created by these articles. Well first off, always always-always go to a verified source like the actual airport. The airports in Canada including Saskatoon and Regina have excellent flight status reporting so I have no idea why anyone would rely on AI generated anything to get information about something as important as whether your flight is cancelled. Be smart, be cautious and when it comes to AI, until some of those kinks get worked out – verify, verify, verify.
