The Saskatoon Food Bank is launching its fourth annual Fresh Fruit for Kids campaign.
Canpotex is this year’s sponsor for the campaign. The potash supplier will be providing $50,000 towards the cause this July.
The food bank is encouraging the community to donate to the cause, with every dollar donated being doubled by Canpotex.
Donations can be as much or as little as people are willing to give. Fresh fruit will also be accepted.
Deborah Hamp, the food banks Director of Operations, explained, “The cash donations are really what go a long way because we have bulk buying power and so the dollar stretches quite a bit further when we’re purchasing bulk.”
Hamp added that 41 per cent of the people they provide for at the food bank are kids.
People donating money can either go online or in person to the Food bank to donate. For people donating fruit they can donate at most local grocery stores or at the Food Bank.
