Seventy-five steers from eight clubs were sold during the Finished 4-H Beef Sale at the 2026 Prairieland Junior Ag Showcase in Saskatoon on Monday evening.
Local businesses paid premium prices for choice quality beef raised by the younger generation, who will use the money for future education or on next year’s steer.
The Grand Champion Steer was exhibited by Hayden Wegwitz of the Monarch Multiple Beef Club. It was purchased for $6.75 a pound by Jefflyn Farms, Pam Holdings. The Reserve Champion 4-H Steer was shown by Alannah Wood of the Crown Hill 4-H Beef Club to Arch’s Plumbing and Heating. The winning bid was $7.50 a pound.
The Grand Champion Market Lamb, exhibited by Sophie Bernauer of the Carlton Trail 4-H Sheep Club, sold for $1,000 to Watrous Animal Hospital.
