If you happen to be following behind a large truck and see an interesting decal on the back of its trailer, you might be looking at the fruits of a new partnership between the Saskatchewan Trucking Association and Crime Stoppers.
Rosann Semchuk is the Manager of Membership Development, Engagement & Government Relations for the STC. She says the ‘See Something, Say Something’ campaign is all about keeping an eye out for the signs of human trafficking, and reporting it when it happens.
She says the province’s truckers put on hundreds of thousands of miles, so putting a human trafficking awareness decal on the back of their trailer would be a great way of spreading the word.
“The See Something, Say Something trailer decal campaign is about using that reach for something bigger than transportation.”
She adds that all STC-member tucking companies are eligible to adopt the decals, as are members of the public who wish to put a sticker on their own vehicle.
Semchuk explains that human trafficking is often hidden in plain sight, and many people may not even realize what they’re seeing. Semchuk adds that every tip could make a difference.
“If this campaign encourages even one person to speak up, report suspicious activity, or help someone in need, then it is absolutely worth it.”
