Regina Police are warning residents of a STARS scam. The Queen City police service has received several reports of victims receiving phone calls from someone posing as a STARS Lottery employee.

Police say the caller tells the potential victim that they have won cash or a new vehicle and tha there is a small fee in relation to collecting the prize. The caller then directs the victim to a local business to buy gift cards or provide personal banking information over the phone.

Regina Police note that legitimate organizations, such as STARS, will never ask for payment to claim a prize.
