The Corman Park Police Service (C-P-P-S) took part in two separate community safety projects on Monday – one of which was a feel good event and the other was designed to maintain safer roads.
The feel good event was a bicycle safety rodeo for Grade 3 students at South Corman Park School. However, a commercial and light vehicle inspection project on Highway #12 at Township Road #381 was a lot more serious as C-P-P-S partnered with the RCMP and several other law enforcement groups to inspect 100 vehicles during the day. There were 28 total offence notices issued, 58 warnings plus commercial carrier inspections. With the latter group, a novice driver was issued a 60-day license suspension and a three-day vehicle impoundment after testing positive for cannabis impairment. One truck and trailer combination was placed out of service due to unsafe conditions and five vehicle inspection tickets were issued for required repairs. A more detailed list of the notices, warnings and inspections can be found with our only story. The multi-agency team also included personnel from the Vanscoy Police Service, Dalmeny Police Service, Saskatchewan Highway Patrol and Saskatchewan Conservation Officers.
