RCMP have arrested and charged a man after a missing teenage girl was found with him at a North Battleford motel.

On April 25 at 6:00 pm, Battlefords RCMP received a report of a missing female teenager.

Officers say investigation led them to a motel room where 22-year-old Deland Okanee from Turtleford was located, and the missing teenager was found in a locked bathroom with serious injuries.

Now, Okanee is facing eight charges, including sexual assault, abduction of a person under 16, forcible confinement, and uttering threats.

He will appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on May 22, and RCMP are not providing further information to be mindful of the victim’s privacy and well-being.
