Prime Minister Mark Carney has called byelections for six ridings located in Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan.
With only a slim majority in the House of Commons these byelections give the Liberals an opportunity to strengthen the ranks.
According to a news release issued Sunday morning, the byelections will be held on December 7th.
Half of the races will be in Quebec where seats were previously held by Bloc Québécois, NDP and Liberal MPs.
In Ontario, votes will be held in two ridings which are Scarborough North which has been a Liberal seat while a Conservative candidate occupied Brantford-Brant South.
The Saskatchewan riding is Yorkton-Melville. Conservative Cathay Wagantall had held the seat since 2015 before officially stepping down at the end of August.
