The Government of Saskatchewan and the Pharmacy Association of Saskatchewan have signed a 3 ‘year Pharmacy Proprietor Agreement, effective as of May 1.
The agreement funds the continuation of pharmacy services like medication dispensing, minor ailment diagnosis and treatment, and chronic disease management.
The funding increase includes $13.8 million over three years, comprised of a 5.4 per cent increase for pharmacy sustainability and a 3.7 per cent increase for expanded services.
The agreement also expands pharmacists’ scope of practice to includes strep throat and ear infection treatment, medication assessments, and minor ailment prescribing.
Saskatchewan has over 1,400 pharmacy professionals working in 433 community pharmacies.
