As the weather warms, the garbage that was hidden beneath the snow is being revealed for all to see.
To return the city to pristine condition, Meewasin is encouraging the public to take part in the 46th Annual Clean Up Campaign.
Katie Walls, Volunteer and Community Events Coordinator with Meewasin, says over the years, the event has gained traction with the public.
“Last year we collected about 11,500 kilograms of garbage, and we had about 2,800 people paricipate.”
Anyone interested in spending an afternoon cleaning up the river valley can head to meewasin.com.
“I’ll give you gloves and garbage bags. All you have to do is pick them up from our office downtown, and you’ll be able to go clean the valley wherever you want to clean it.”
