After over ten years of collecting votes, images, and video of Saskatchewan’s most horrific roads, CAA is pausing the Top Ten Worst Roads initiative and switching gears from bad roads to better drivers.
Angel Blair with CAA says the decision to shift focus came from the public’s demand for information.
“We hear a lot of concerns from people,” she explains. Key topics of interest include how to stay safe on the road in the company of so many potholes and how to save money on repair costs after hitting said potholes.
In response to those queries, Blair says, it’s important to check your tire pressure regularly and ensure your wheels are aligned. Other tips include plan your route ahead, slow down, and if you happen to hit a pothole, pull over. For those who find themselves on the road more often than not, she says “there’s actually insurance coverage that give you extra tire protection.”
As part of this new education campaign, CAA is also revamping its social media strategy with new challenges that can put free gas in your tank.
“Watch for social media posts. There will be some games. You’ll have to look for some clues and do some interesting things.” For their efforts, participants could win one of several gas cards purchased by CAA.
The free gas contest will run throughout the next few months wrapping up in May. Blair says check out Facebook and Instagram to get involved.
