The Canada Revenue Agency says the introduction of AI has increased the believability and prevalence of online scams exponentially.
David Nunes with the CRA explains that previously, scammers operated within a smaller scope, but AI has allowed them to slide under the radar with less human-error.
“So, it’s harder to spot these things. Emails are harder to spot. Fake websites are harder to spot. So, it’s really about keeping an awareness and doing preventative measures to make sure you don’t fall victim to these frauds before they happen.”
He says if you feel uneasy about a message you’ve received, feel free to contact the CRA directly at any time.
