Meadow Lake hit with 37 centimetres of snow, Environment Canada says more coming Sunday

The winner, if you can call it that, in terms of snowfall totals so far is Meadow Lake with 37 centimetres.

Meteorologist Danielle Desjardins says following the snowstorm that finally tapered off Tuesday morning, Saskatoon saw 16 to 20 centimetres, Holbein had 22 to 23 cm, Prince Albert 18, Emma Lake 16 cm and Nipawin 15 cm.

Desjardins says there is some good news with seasonal to above seasonal temperatures for most of Saskatchewan going into the weekend.

However, we’re not in the clear. She says they haven’t completely nailed down what is coming, but Sunday into Monday looks like another weather system will roll into the province.

“For southern Saskatchewan, it will mainly be rain. We could see some snow in northern Saskatchewan, maybe even into central Saskatchewan, but we’re not talking about 20 plus centimetres. This looks like, at worst, maybe five to ten. But it’s too early to say with certainty.”

She adds that temperatures will fall well below normal following that system, and she advises drivers not to put the winter tires away just yet.

Saskatchewan RCMP report its members responded to 78 incidents involving collisions or vehicles hitting the ditch between 3pm Tuesday and noon Wednesday. The RCMP indicates it is not aware of any serious injuries.
