The Saskatchewan Animal Enforcement Agency is now in charge of delivering animal welfare enforcement services in the province.
Animal Protection Services of Saskatchewan previously provided these services up until March 31, 2026. SAEA was selected through a public, competitive procurement process.
For members of the public nothing has changed. They can still call the same contact number at 306-382-0002 or visit their website at www.saskanimalenforcementagency.com to report suspected animal cruelty or abuse.
Agriculture Minister David Marit says, “Our government’s partnership with the Saskatchewan Animal Enforcement Agency ensures that animal welfare enforcement continues without interruption. This new agency brings a strong, long-term approach that supports effective and compassionate enforcement that protects communities and animals across Saskatchewan.”
SAEA CEO Lavan Thirukketheesawaranathan says his organization prioritizes education and voluntary compliance while taking decisive action when animals are in distress. He says the SAEA is committed to building strong relationships with communities and partners and collaborating with other agencies and animal welfare organizations.
