Jim Puffalt who is the Chief Administrative Officer for Blaine Lake emphasizes that this is more than Blaine Lake, this is about all of Saskatchewan.
“Saskatchewan’s never won Kraft Hockeyville. And so, we certainly think, and we’ve reached out to the entire province about, listen, when we get to the next phase, it’s a voting process and we need everyone in Saskatchewan and probably Western Canada to help Blaine Lake get to the end.”
Puffalt says they want to put in artificial ice.
“With the way the weather has changed over the past few years it’s really hard to maintain ice in this facility. You know you’re able to build ice and then all of a sudden, it warms up and you start losing ice or there’s drips happening. It’s just really hard to maintain a good quality ice when its natural.”
The community has a chance at winning $250,000 for the community of Blaine Lake, an NHL Game played in their arena and $50,000 in rink upgrades. You can vote for them by going to the Kraft Hockeyville Facebook page and commenting and liking on the Blaine Lake picture and they are inviting everyone out to their Hockeyville party on Saturday.
