Shortly before 1:00 on Sunday afternoon, Buckland Fire and Rescue responded to a grass fire on Highway #2 one mile north of Spruce Home.
When they arrived, area residents were attempting to douse the slow-moving fire burning near a power pole. The blaze was successfully extinguished.
Meanwhile, in lake country Saturday night around 10:30 p.m., Buckland Fire and Rescue along with Lakeland Fire Department responded to a fire at Emma Lake where two structures were burning and firefighters worked to keep the blaze from spreading to a neighbouring property.
Buckland fire crews say if not for the immediate actions of the Lakeland Fire Department when they arrived on scene, this incident would have been much worse.
