The Regina Police Service says a death investigation that began early Saturday morning is now a homicide investigation.
Shortly before 1:00 a.m. police responded to a home in the 1000 block of 12th Avenue where officers located a 19-year-old man who was the victim of a gunshot wound. He was declared deceased at the scene by EMS.
Investigation has determined the death is a result of homicide. The name of the victim will not be released at the request of the family. The investigation is ongoing, and residents near the 1000 Block of 12th Avenue are asked to check their properties for a firearm.
RPS says the area of focus is Saskatchewan Drive to Victoria Avenue, Montreal Street to Wallace Street.
Residents are asked to contact police if they locate anything that may assist in the investigation, including a firearm. RPS says do not touch the weapon, instead stay with it and contact police immediately.
