Saskatchewan artist Glen Scrimshaw has embarked on a new project, but he’s traded in the canvas for a more ‘earthy’ medium.

‘Timeless Shelf Originals’ is a collection of hand-picked rocks that Scrimshaw has cleaned and painted, each a unique and original masterpiece.

Donation Specialist with Meewasin, Nikki Moggey, says the scenes range from the northern lights to his classic lightning storm, to a cheeseburger.

“You can easily hold them in your hand, which I think is really nice,” Moggey explains. “There’s a lot of opportunity for people to put these at home or at work or somewhere they weren’t able to hang a picture.”

She adds that Scrimshaw approached the Meewasin Valley Authority and generously chose to give them a portion of the proceeds, as he is an advocate for conservation, himself.

“His donation will be used to support conservation efforts, educational programming, and the development of amenities within the river valley.”

She says the rocks are priced lower than his other original works, making them more accessible to art fans across Saskatchewan. Scrimshaw has the rocks available in galleries across the province, as well as online at glen scrimshaw dot com.
