Saskatoon police and fire crews had a busy day after tending to not just one, but four suspicious vehicle fires.
The first incident was called in at around 2:45 a.m. Police arrived in the 1700 block of Saskatchewan Avenue to find four vehicles on fire. These were extinguished by the Saskatoon Fire Department.
Then, just after 4:00 a.m., police were called to the 500 block of Rusholme Road for a report of one vehicle on fire. This, too, was extinguished.
At about the same time, police received another report of a vehicle on fire in the 300 block of Avenue G North. A police service dog was used in an attempt to find a suspect, but to no avail.
Finally, just before 5:00 a.m., officers were called to the 1100 block of Avenue C North for the very same reason.
Tow trucks were required to remove several burnt vehicles from the scenes. An SPS arson investigator is now investigating in coordination with a fire investigator from the SFD.
