The two-day Saskatchewan Selective Traffic Enforcement Program taking place in Saskatoon is now complete, resulting in numerous inspections and penalties.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, officers were stationed around the city targeting road safety initiatives such as vehicle equipment regulations, car seat checks, commercial vehicle inspections and traffic safety violations.

Over the two days, four vehicles were impounded after being driven by people under the influence of cocaine and cannabis. Forty-four vehicles were inspected, 16 of which required further assessment, and 15 were removed from roadways and deemed out of service.

Also, 98 people were caught distracted driving, most while using a cell phone. One person was caught doing 111 km/hour in a 60 zone and was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.
