A Regina-based construction company has contributed to Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Time to Rise Campaign. 

Westridge Construction has made an $840,000 donation to the cause, which will help fund the new Joseph A. Remai Saskatoon Campus next to the University of Saskatchewan. 

CEO of Westridge Construction, Colin Olfert, says of the total, $750,000 will be invested in the new carpentry shop, and the rest will be put towards carpentry student awards. 

From this donation, all the carpentry shops across Saskatchewan Polytechnic campuses will be dubbed the Westridge Construction Carpentry shops. 

He adds that 80 per cent of his staff got their start at Sask. Polytech, so it only made sense to give back.  

“And it’s not just our staff. Many of the trades people that we work with, our trade partners, the consultants who design the buildings that we build, and the clients that we serve all benefit from the skilled grades that come out of this great institution.”

The Time to Rise Campaign has a goal of $100 million, and construction of the new campus is expected to start in late 2025.
