Three people were arrested and charged following an early Thursday morning incident in Saskatoon which involved a traffic stop that led to a trio resisting arrest and, in one instance, becoming combative with Saskatoon Police Service officers.
According to a police news release, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1300 block of 33rd Street West at about 2:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Police say while speaking with the driver, officers noticed open alcohol in the vehicle and while trying to take the four occupants in the vehicle into custody, three of them resisted arrest and one of the three assaulted a constable.
Continued investigation led officers to locating over 66.52 grams of cocaine, plus paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking inside the vehicle.
A 24-year-old woman, plus two men, aged 30 and 45 are facing a combination of charges related to drug trafficking, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer. The 30-year-old man was also found to be breaching court-imposed conditions. The fourth occupant of the vehicle did not resist arrest and complied with the officers’ commands.
